Each week as I am working with small businesses across Northwest Arkansas, I hear similar concerns from business owners. What should I post? How often should I post? How do I keep from posting the same thing?
Getting start with social media and keeping on top of it can be overwhelming! Here are a few tips focusing on content and consistency.
Content
- Use Canva.com to create interesting and engaging content. Canva is a great tool to help vary up your social media feed while also maintaining a cohesive brand image. On Canva you can establish a color pallet, choose your brand fonts, upload ready to go product shots, and much more. Watch ASBTDC’s Canva 101 & Canva 102 workshops for more information.
- Make a list of the top 50 questions that customers ask you and use them as content inspiration. Addressing FAQ’s in this format allows you to get direct feedback in the form of comments and replies. It also allows you to use your social media as an additional email to answer the questions that customers are asking over and over again.
- Get personal and share the who and why behind your business. Introduce yourself, share your mission statement, and be social.
- Humble brag. Don’t be shy and share what makes your product or service great.
- Share a video tour. Whether you have an office or a store front, a behind the scenes look is sure to peak the interest of your followers.
- Post quotes from happy customers. Sharing real feedback establishes trust in your brand.
Consistency
- For social media to be effective, you must be consistent. Posting once a month will not reach your desired outcome.
- Don’t be afraid to recycle content. Not every person sees every post.
- Use a scheduling software such as Planoly to schedule your posts. This ensures that the posting happens while you are focused on other areas of your business.
- Plan your content ahead of time. You can use an online spreadsheet or even just print a blank calendar.
