Gabi Carrasco Stewart is a certified survival swim instructor and dedicated to keeping babies and young children safe around water. Her business, Shrimply the Best Infant Aquatics, was created to teach young children, ages 6 months and up, swim-float-swim technique and aquatic self-rescue skills.

In the United States, accidents are one of the leading causes of death in children, with drowning as the leading cause for children under 5 years of age. In Northwest Arkansas, children are constantly around pools, lakes, and rivers, making water safety critically important.

When Gabi first reached out for help in building her business, the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center at the University of Arkansas provided guidance with startup issues, accounting and cash flow, budgeting, and suggested scheduling software.

Starting with the Smartphone Photography webinar to enhance social media skills in promoting her safety message and business, Gabi has participated in the Center’s Marketing Boot Camp, Google Business seminar and other ASBTDC marketing webinars.

She recently noted that the greatest need affecting her small business is “keeping up with my books and staying organized.” Working with her consultant Stephanie Parsons, they have reviewed financials and examined options to streamline registration for classes.

“Stephanie Parsons is guiding me through all of these, her knowledge and expertise have been a blessing. I’m grateful and feel so lucky to be Stephanie’s client. ASBTDC has been a great support in so many ways for my small business!”
