Since its launch in 2009, Clubhaus Fitness has had an ambitions mission – help its members take better care of themselves both physically and emotionally so that, in turn, they can take better care of their families and our community. For more than 11 years, Clubhaus Fitness did just that. Located on Dickson Street in the heart of downtown Fayetteville, Clubhaus immediately gained popularity and became a hub for fitness, run clubs, group classes, personal training, and social gathering.

When dealt an unlucky hand in the pandemic, they turned to ASBTDC for help. From state-mandated shutdowns, to loss of memberships, to increased cleaning costs, the fitness industry took a turn for the worst, and small businesses like Clubhaus were hit the hardest. ASBTDC was well-versed in the aid made available to small businesses impacted by COVID-19 and was there to help Clubhaus navigate the processes of applying for and receiving it.

“ASBTDC has been a tremendous help in navigating the small business loans and grants that were offered to help us get through COVID shutdowns and loss of revenue.  Without their guidance, the process would have been much more stressful.  Mary Beth and Lindsay have been very attentive to the needs of our business and are constantly offering advice, support, and the high fives we’ve needed along the way!”

One of the changes Clubhaus made to survive COVID-19 was to say goodbye to their Dickson Street location and move to the facilities at Mount Sequoyah.

“We’ve all had to make some adjustments and our members have been extremely understanding and patient with us as we work out the kinks of a new location, fewer staff members, and decreased revenue.”

This transition to Mount Sequoyah wasn’t something they would’ve predicted before 2020, but has allowed them to make some creative renovations, expanding their physical space as well as the amenities and services they offer. Clubhaus now offers more than 60 group fitness classes per week, is a full-service fitness center with pool and tennis court access, and has room to expand into facilities across the mountain.

“The move was trying and presented some new challenges, but overall it has been good for us!  Our membership numbers are increasing, and many familiar faces are beginning to return.”

Owners Stu Walker and Mitzi Traxon couldn’t be more thrilled about what Clubhaus has become for their members, staff, and community.

“Being small business owners allows us to interact daily with our members. That is most definitely our favorite part! The best memories we have are those of our members milling around our front desk downtown before and after classes, creating that sense of community among our members and staff. It’s what we strive for daily.”

When we asked them what they’d say to other small business owners who may be considering signing up with the ASBTDC, they urge others to see what we have to offer.

“The ASBTDC is an extremely valuable, free resource that every small business should access – whether for a little bit of guidance or for help on several aspects of business operations (finance, accounting, marketing, etc.).  It’s a resource that so many do not take advantage of but can and should!”
