In early 2020, Leah and Daniel Jordan started to dream of owning a bookstore far into the future. By January of 2021, with the help of ASBTDC, this abstract wish formed into a “what if,” and before they knew it, Pearl’s Books had a name and a brick-and-mortar location. They haven’t looked back.

“When we decided to open our business, we looked into the center, and were pleasantly surprised by the resources available! There’s no reason not to sign up as a client. We wouldn’t have had such a professional or robust brand had we not received services from ASBTDC.”

Located on Center Street just East of the Fayetteville Square, Pearl’s will be an independent bookstore selling new books from a variety of genres. They will also carry a curated selection of gifts, and eventually, coffee, beer, wine, and limited snacks.

The ultimate goal is to be a gathering space that encourages readers, writers, and the general community to come together to discuss books they love!

“We can’t wait to actually see people in the store and meet community members in the place we’ve been working hard to bring to life. We’ve already learned so much about Fayetteville and made numerous new connections. This is an awesome place to live, and we’re really glad to be investing in it in this way.”

They look forward to hosting book clubs, reading groups, and social events in their space. It is still currently under construction, but they plan to open in late September.

Throughout their small business journey, ASBTDC has been there to answer questions and provide expert business advice. Starting a small business is no easy task, and we are proud to have helped Leah and Daniel bring their dream to life.

“We have loved having an experienced and knowledgeable team support what we’re doing. Lindsay’s patience with our questions and insights about the small business community in Fayetteville has been invaluable.

We are so grateful for the amazing team who have helped us with financials, graphic design, website development, and more! The folks at ASBTDC have been so willing to listen to us troubleshoot and daydream and provide feedback so that we are able to open as smoothly as possible.”
